Itinerary
Il percorso
Santa Caterina di Pittinuri is a small village situated at the northern tip of Sinis, where the mountains meet the sea. The flat, lagoon-like landscapes gradually transform into striking white tufa cliffs and dark basaltic mountains, remnants of ancient volcanoes.

The climate undergoes a shift as well. The mountains act as a barrier, shielding the area from the warm eastern winds, while the Mistral wind from the west passes through the cliffs, creating a gentle breeze. This results in a locale with a unique microclimate, offering pleasant conditions year-round and particularly refreshing respite during the summer months.

The journey unfolds along the white cliffs, creating an almost lunar-like landscape. Along the way, you'll encounter typical Mediterranean flora and discover numerous hidden coves nestled among the rocks.

The sea presents a deep blue hue, distinct from many of the shallower beaches in Sinis. As you transition from white rocks to black, the landscape undergoes yet another transformation. The path will lead you to a secluded pebble beach with crystal-clear waters, perfect for a revitalizing swim.

Continuing further inland, the terrain becomes lush with vegetation, providing shaded spots along the way. You might even come across land tortoises and various types of birds of prey as they hunt along the coast.

The return route will guide you to another unique spot, Su Riu, which was once an ancient river that flowed into the sea. Here, you can relish another invigorating swim before heading back to your vehicle. The excursion concludes within a forest of pine and eucalyptus trees, offering a pleasant setting for a picnic before bidding farewell.

The presence of children is strongly discouraged.
